Waterproof first
In a wet room the whole floor gets wet, so the room is tanked (sealed with a waterproof membrane system) before tiling starts. Tiles and grout aren't waterproof on their own; the tanking underneath is what protects the house.
Falls that work
The floor has to fall gently to the drain so water never sits. Tile size and layout are chosen to suit the falls, which is why wet room floors often use smaller tiles or carefully cut large-format ones.

Tanking is a waterproof membrane system applied to the walls and floor before tiling, so water can't reach the structure behind. It's essential in a wet room, where the whole floor gets wet.
Can any bathroom become a wet room?
Most can, but it depends on the floor construction and where the drainage can run. Mark will look at the room before quoting so you know what's involved.
What tiles work best in a wet room?
Slip-resistant tiles on the floor, laid to fall to the drain. On the walls you have more freedom: large-format tiles keep grout lines to a minimum and are easy to keep clean.
