Why slabs are different

The bigger the tile, the less forgiving it is. A slab needs a dead-flat surface, full adhesive coverage and careful handling, and the largest ones take more than one pair of hands to move and set. Get any of that wrong and it shows as lippage or cracks.

Fewer joints, one surface

Done properly, large-format tiling gives walls and floors with barely a grout line: a shower that reads as one sheet of marble-effect porcelain, or a floor that runs through a room without interruption.

How a job runs

  1. Send photos

    Photos and rough sizes by form or WhatsApp. You get a fixed quote within 48 hours.

  2. Set out

    The layout is planned before a tile goes down, so the cuts land where you won't see them.

  3. Prepare

    Surfaces made flat and sound, and wet areas waterproofed. The part that decides how long it lasts.

  4. Tile & tidy

    Tiled, grouted and finished, with the room cleared up at the end of every day.

What counts as large format?

In the trade, large format usually means any tile with a side of 60 cm or more. Slabs are larger still. Mark fits porcelain slabs up to 2.8 × 1.2 metres.

Can large-format tiles go on walls?

Yes, with the right preparation and adhesive. Large-format walls are popular in showers and bathrooms because they cut down on grout lines.

Why do large tiles cost more to fit?

They need a flatter surface, more preparation and more careful handling, and the biggest slabs need a team to lift and set. The finish is worth it, but it's specialist work.
