Stone needs looking after

Natural stone is porous, so it's usually sealed before grouting to stop the grout staining it, and resealed from time to time after that. You'll be told what your stone needs.

Real stone or lookalike?

Porcelain lookalikes have come a long way: they're harder-wearing, need no sealing and are more consistent. Real stone has depth and variation porcelain can't copy. Either way, the detail work on edges and corners is the same.

How a job runs

    Photos and rough sizes by form or WhatsApp. You get a fixed quote within 48 hours.

    The layout is planned before a tile goes down, so the cuts land where you won't see them.

  3. Prepare

    Surfaces made flat and sound, and wet areas waterproofed. The part that decides how long it lasts.

  4. Tile & tidy

    Tiled, grouted and finished, with the room cleared up at the end of every day.

Does natural stone need sealing?

Usually, yes. Most natural stone is porous and is sealed before grouting, then resealed periodically depending on the stone and how much use it gets.

Should I choose natural stone or porcelain?

Porcelain is tougher, needs no sealing and is more consistent. Natural stone has a depth and variation that porcelain can't fully copy. It comes down to the look you want and how much care you're happy to give it.

What does mitred mean?

Mitring is cutting two tile edges at 45 degrees so they meet in a clean corner, instead of finishing the edge with a metal or plastic trim. It keeps the pattern wrapping round the corner.
